We have an official 1st Grader in the house!

Caitlin had a great first day of 1st grade on August 5th (yes, I slacked in posting this)! She really liked her teacher and was happy to discover that because the classes are set up as "villages" and they try to keep "villages" intact every year, a lot of her classmates from Kindergarten were also in her class this year. She reported that she liked eating lunch at school and having recess. I have a feeling that we are going to have to keep her challenged at home for the first couple of weeks as her teacher is going to be reviewing the basics to get a feel for where everyone is before assigning students to different learning groups. I have already purchased a math workbook (her favorite subject) and am planning to buy a Brain Quest workbook too, just to provide her brain with some extra stimulation while everything gets sorted out. Caitlin is learning early the realities of friendships as her best friend from last year isn't sticking by her side this year. Thankfully, she had found some new friends and seems to be adjusting well socially. She will be starting Girl Scouts next week as well as gymnastics so, once again, our after school schedule will be full! I cannot wait to see how Caitlin progresses as the year goes on!

Wow, I still can't believe how grown up she looks!

Glad to hear she's enjoying 1st Grade.

Sounds like you are going to be keeping busy with her after school activities!

Nice to hear that Caitie is in the full swing of things at school - 1st grade has so much to do it seems - new classes, new friends etc.

Hope Caitie likes Girl Scouts - two of my granddaughters have been in "scouts" for a few years now and liked it. My other two granddaughters are in gymnastics and love that. My son and his two girls just left this morning after visiting with us this past week. It is always fun to hear about their busy lives, as you are experiencing with your girls now.

congratulations on your little girl starting 1st. grade!

I'm actually from the midwest, but we went and visited Denver last month. We set out to make a very last minute trip to Omaha, Nebraska, and ended up at Mount Rushmore, Wyoming, and then Estes Park, Colorado! We visited the fire fighter's museum while were there and thought it was pretty cool.

We LOVE Colorado and wish we could live there. I can't imagine what it would be like waking up every morning and seeing the mountains, or even just being an hour from mountains. So beautiful.

Very cool that you guys live there!
